pregnancy update

I went to see the specialist this week. Apparently I should have been seeing him a lot more times since my last ultrasound but that's another story. My regular care doc was a little concerned because our little guy had already dropped. Well, all is well. My cervix hasn't started thinning so that's good. Little Logan is growing and doing great so that's wonderful. I haven't had any spotting or cramping so apparently my progesterone shots are working. We got a couple of cute ultrasound pics so if Matt gets them scanned we can post them. It's such a relief to know everything is going good. Yea!

Oh, I also forgot to mention that our last ultrasound changed our due date by a day. Instead of June 16th it is now June 17th. I'm too lazy to change my ticker so just know that it's a day off. I mean one little day? C'mon! It's just One day.

Another Awesome Eagle

Kassidee earned the Eagle of the Month award for accomplishing some goals that she had set up with her teacher and being such a hard worker and helper. She has so much determination and never gives up in whatever she chooses to do.

Way to go Kassidee!

Nothing makes me as happy as a popsicle!

Since Ruddy and Steph can't really post pics on their blog (They have dial-up... enough said) I had to post these cute pics of Mia. She's been kinda fussy (not normal for her) and we think she might be teething. Steph let her taste a little bit of her Popsicle and she went crazy. She loved it and she looked so cute getting all messy! She's such a little cutie!

Sunday afternoon hike

After church on Sunday we had a picnic on the trampoline and then decided to go for a short little hike. The weather has been soooo beautiful! It's starting to feel like spring!

Temple Quarry Hike

On Saturday we went hiking with Bryce and Annalee's family, and then to a school party at Sand Hollow Aquatic Center. Kassidee was whining before we left because she didn't want to go hiking. She just wanted to climb on rocks. Bryce said Kaylee was worried that she would have to climb on rocks. Luckily we had a chance to do both. It was lots of fun with only a few cuts and bruises (Draven bit the dust a couple of times.) We had a great time and learned a lot!

Mikelle's toes

Mikelle has always had problems with her tendons in her toes being really tight and her toes curl up. Lately she has been complaining about her heels hurting. When we went to Disneyland she complained the whole time about her heels hurting and it was the same scenario when we went to the Arts Festival. My mom talked to one of the podiatrists that she works with and that has helped her before with her problems. He said that this type of problem is common in children that are lacking in B vitamins (particularly B12) and protein. He also said that some of the children he's treated have shown improvement within 2 weeks. Mikelle has never really liked eating meat and she's a super picky eater. We're going to try a new diet for her and some supplements and of course some stretching exercises and see how she does. I just thought that was sooooo interesting and thought that I'd share this little bit of info. After I told Mikelle we were going to try a new diet with her she about had a come apart. I had to explain that not all diets are for people losing weight. There are all kinds of diets for different things.

My dad bought some more baby chicks. (MaryAnn has been kinda lonely since we lost Bullseye.) The girls were really excited and had a hard time thinking about anything else all week long. They cried most of the way home because they wanted to take them home so bad. Brittany and Gracie came down for the weekend and visited. Gracie was afraid to hold the chicks but still liked them. Mia loved the chicks. She kept trying to grab them. I told the girls that when we get our own home we can get a few chickens. They're an easy pet with an added benefit (eggs.) For now, they will just have to enjoy grandma and grandpa's chicks.

All Grown Up???

It really seems like Mikelle has grown-up a lot recently. She's learning how to cook, and can make her own scrambled eggs and ramen noodles all by herself. She's becoming very independent. Just when it feels like your babies are all grown-up they surprise you. Sunday morning I awoke to this face. Luckily the marker came off before church. It was nice to know that she's still my little girl no matter how old she gets.

Eagle of the Month

Mikelle is eagle for the month in her class. She earned it by being a good helper and following the rules at school. She has such a sweet personality and is always willing to help. We're really proud of her. Way to go Mikelle!!!

Easter makes me Sick!!!

Okay, so Easter doesn't really make me sick. Yeah, the way it is way over commercialized does but I love the true meaning of Easter. I love celebrating Easter. I'm talking about Easter candy. It makes me sick... literally. Daisy too when she finds a way to get into it. The sad thing is that I can't stop munching on it. Unfortunately it almost tastes just as good coming up as it did going down. I haven't really ate too much junk until recently. I guess I need to have the girls hide their candy.....and Matt too (I've been eying Matt's cadbury egg all day.) Hmmm.... CANDY, it's a love/hate relationship. What's a girl to do?

Easter

When I think of Easter growing up I think of my Grandma Wilcox's Easter eggs and our baskets that my mom made for us. Those were 2 traditions that I wanted to share with my kids. So far, we're doing good on the Easter baskets (I made them and we use them every year) but we haven't made eggs like my grandma's yet. I bought the onion skins and we even have beets we can use to color them with but there was no green foliage or flowers to use to decorate them. :( I am still planning on making them but it just won't be for Easter. I also still need to think of a design for Logan's Easter basket if anyone has any ideas. Kass thinks that I need to make a lamb for Mia and a turtle for Logan. I know when I think of Easter "turtle" is the first animal I think of. I was thinking maybe a chick in an Easter egg. Ideas?
This year was a little bit different but still fun. We went into St. George on Friday and went to the Arts Festival. Mikelle spent Friday night and Saturday with her dad. Kassidee spent the night at my parent's house and they took her to the fun egg hunts at the park and then she also went with the Hafen's to their Easter party. After church on Sunday we finally got to do our Easter festivities together. We decorated eggs when we got home. Kassidee said she couldn't ever remember decorating eggs so I'm glad that we did some. (Even if they weren't the ones I wanted to make.)
Then we had Bryce and Annalee's family over for an egg hunt and dinner. The kids had lots of fun. Poor Taylor slipped on the snow a few times and broke the eggs in his basket and got some of his candy wet, but otherwise it was really fun! Even Daisy had a great time. She got a bone from our roast and was so proud of it she had to go show everyone. The older kids went for a walk and said they heard growling. They were sure it was a mountain lion or a bear. Taylor said Grandpa Bergeson told him a story about a bear that ate 6 people named Faux Paw (sp?). I would love to know that story. We were also finally able to put up our trampoline from Christmas. Yea! Overall, it was a really great weekend!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!

Hope everyone had a great St. Patrick's Day! The girls had a lot of fun dressing up. We didn't have the traditional corned beef and cabbage , but we did have a great St. Patty's day feast. We had green macaroni and cheese and cabbage. Kass wasn't too sure about the green macaroni at first. The girls love to visit our neighbors Violet and Fermin. Fermin told them that they were eating corned beef and cabbage for their dinner and the leprechauns would come to their house at night. I wonder if we'll have any come to our house tonight.

I loved these pictures of the girls. They were so happy that day and they actually look like they like each other. They are either best friends or worst enemies. These were taken right outside of Matt's work. I love the flowers in Spring. The last picture is of Mikelle being a cat in a tree. We stopped by Red Cliffs and took a few pictures and the girls played in the freezing cold water. After Mikelle played for awhile in the tree she wanted me to get her down. Yeah, right. Let me climb up there and carry you down. I talked her down and she did just fine, but it was kinda funny.

I love Matty soooo much! Sometimes it seems like we haven't been married that long and other times it seems like forever. I think that we compliment each other well. We're very different yet a lot alike. Where one of us is lacking the other makes up for it. (Except we both really are procrastinators. Guess we need to work on that.) He's so great with the kids (Kass says he's my grown-up child) and me! I don't know what I would do without him!

FISH TACOS

So, the bishopric came by to meet with us since we are new in the ward. I also think that they may be giving us a calling. I don't know why I got that impression. Maybe perhaps it might be because the first thing they asked us is what other callings we have had before. Hmmm... Anyway, they brought over some Halibut (or Salibut according to Kassidee) so I decided to try to make fish tacos. They are super easy and really nummy!

White sauce:
Equal parts yogurt and mayo
then thin it down with a little lime
(that's it unless you want to add some spices)

Then you can either batter your fish or for a more healthy alternative you could just grill it.
We chose to batter it with Panko. (Yeah, we like fatting stuff in our house.)
Flour it, dip it in egg/milk mix, then in the Panko, and either deep fry or fry in olive oil.

Warm your corn tortillas in either the microwave or quickly over the stove.

Then top with cabbage and your favorite salsa.

That's it!

It was really good and super easy. Mikelle and Kass of course didn't try it, but they did take some thankful bites of our Salibut. Mikelle was sure that she didn't like Halibut, and Kass just does whatever Mikelle is doing. I knew that they liked it. I made them some fry sauce to go with theirs. I think that they secretly liked it. Maybe because they didn't complain while eating their thankful bites and Kass came back to the table because she had one more thankful bite left. "Oops, I still have one more bite left." I wish they would just admit when they like something.

Homemaid Bandaids

So, when I don't make it in to town to have my mom give me my shot, I do it myself. Mikelle thinks that if there is a drop of blood there is a need for a bandage. Since she couldn't find any she made me one, and then she made one for Matt and Daisy just for fun. Thye're made with paper towels (very sterile I'm sure) and lots and lots of tape! Matt's is my favorite one.

It's beginning to feel a lot like Spring!

This last week has been so beautiful. Most of the snow is beginning to melt and it's just lovely! Of course now we have mud instead but even that is starting to get a little better. Last weekend Mikelle made us sandwiches and wanted to go on a picnic. We were sinking pretty deep in the snow. Mikelle says that maybe if we didn't eat as much like Kass and her we wouldn't be so fat. Of course even they sank a few times. Afterwards Kassidee was saying how she really wants to live in St. George where it's warm or maybe San Diego. Apparently she was really impressed with San Diego because she keeps talking about it. She pretends she's going on a mission there and talks about living there. I guess that we'll definitely need to go visit our family there again.

Mikelle's Baptism

Mikelle chose to be baptized on Saturday, March 1st. We originally tried for the first of February but things didn't really work out how we had planned. I know that whenever it seems that there is a lot of adversity it means that it is that much more special and needs to get done. We 're really happy for the decision that she made. I think that Kassidee was just a little bit jealous. She kept wondering why Mikelle got new scriptures and special things but she wasn't getting anything. She even had to sneak into one of the pictures with Matt and Mikelle. We tried explaining that she'll get to do all those things when it's her turn to be baptized. We had a lot of people come to her baptism. Even her dad and little brothers (who are not members) came. I told her what a great example that is to them. Jamin and Karen's family even came from Bountiful to come visit. We had a great time visiting with them. Matt's cousin Amanda let us see her horses and mule. Mikelle even said "hi" to the mule for grandma Bergeson. The kids really loved seeing the baby goats and getting to ride Amanda's horse.

Sea World

Sea World was really neat. We wish that we would have chosen a different behind the scenes tour. The shows were really neat and the girls liked touching all of the animals. After Disneyland and Sea World I think everyone's feet were really tired!!

San Diego

San Diego was awesome! We had a really great time visiting with all of Matt's family. We stopped by and visited his grandparents. They are truly amazing! They are 94 and 96 y.o. His grandpa even bought paint and painted their fence in the back at 96. Wow! His grandma pulled out all of the scrapbooks and put sticky tabs on all of the pages of Matt. I think what is so amazing is how busy and self-reliant they still are. I was pondering what the secret to a long life really is. Especially after all the articles there are right now about Pres. Hinckley (another truly remarkable person.) I was comparing their similarities. For instance all of them have a purpose. I think that they wake up with a purpose in mind and spend the day being productive. Or is it Love? I love the way I felt walking into his grandparents house you can feel the love they have for each other, for everyone around them. Pres. Hinckley exuberates the love that he has for the gospel and all it's members. We were looking at pictures of him and his wife online and Mikelle said,"Wow, she has such a beautiful face." So, I guess that you can argue that some people's main goal in life is to make everyone just as miserable as them. So, what is the secret to a long life? Good Genes. What's the secret to a long happy life? Choosing to be happy, waking up with a purpose, and sharing your love with everyone.
After we met his grandparents we spent some time at Matt's Uncle Dan's house. The girls finally got to go swimming. Yea! Kass had been begging to go everyday even while we were at Disneyland. It was nice to get to visit with them then since they weren't able to come over later. The girls and Matt dared each other to get into the pool. It was steaming hot 57 degrees. Okay so it was so cold that Maggie didn't even want to get in. After that we went back to his grandparent's house and everyone else came over.
The girl's took my camera and had some fun taking pictures. There were a lot of interesting pictures.
