Just for fun

Before and After

The gang's all here! I love how Lisa is crossing her legs. So cute!

When we decide to go in to St. George we travel in with Matt and stay the day to save on gas. We usually spend the day at my mom's house so I try to find things to keep me busy.... although having a new baby keeps me busy enough. I have been wanting to scrapbook my parents wedding pics for quite some time now. They got a new scanner so I scanned all their pics and then fixed most of them. Now to just print and play. I thought I'd share some of their pictures because I love how styles can definitely date us and it's fun to see everyone when they were younger. I'm totally digging my mom's "high heel platform open toe tennis shoes." Actually I think they may be in style again. I especially like the pics of Jeff and Alan. They look so little. ha ha ha There was also one of Julie that looks so much like Jessica.

How does your garden grow?

Mikelle and Kassi, sweet and sassy, how does your garden grow?

We planted our garden a week and a half ago (yeah, I know kinda late) and we are so excited that it is actually growing. I don't do well with plants so it's a great accomplishment. So far the corn, peas, squash, cantaloupe, watermelon, and beets are starting to come up. Mikelle wanted to plant a garden so bad. She goes out in the morning to help me water. Lately mother nature has been doing the watering for us. We have gotten lots of rain. Logan loves his outside time too in his carrier. When he's fussy we head outside and he calms down and looks around. We also love the fun things in the herb garden. Mikelle and Kass think that the mint leaves are so cool. Mikelle also made a good discovery. She came running in the house very excited because she found those onions that I use in spaghetti. Not the ones in tomato soup but the other kind that is in spaghetti. Yep, those other onions are actually garlic. She was very excited!

4th of July weekend

We had a very eventful weekend! We went to Enterprise Reservoir on Friday. The kids, even some of the bigger kids, had fun crawdad fishing. Then a few of us hiked around to the back of the lower reservoir dam. It was kind of difficult getting there but we found a geocache. Then we went to Bryce & Annalee's house and had a BBQ. Saturday was spent fixing up the yard with everyone's help. Thanks so much everyone for all your help! We had Logan blessed on Sunday. Matt did such a wonderful job! Logan was such a good boy. He was in the middle of eating when he went up and didn't even cry. Afterward we went to the picnic area in Pine Valley. I'm kinda bummed that I forgor my camera there. Annalee took some good pics and put them on her blog. My mom made a bunch of salads and we had sandwich stuff. She always does such a great job and I really appreciated all her help. Thanks mom! What a weekend!

Veyo Pool

We finally had a chance to go to Veyo Pool! My mom and Mia came out with us and my really good friend Elisa met us there. It was really fun! I hadn't seen E forever but it didn't really seem like it since we keep up with each other on our blogs. The girls had so much fun doing a little swimming and a lot of crawdad catching. They sneaked a few home with us. I love that pool so much and can't wait until Logan is old enough to enjoy it more. He was a really good baby but it would have been more fun if he could have played in the water.

Luau

Mikelle and I had a mother daughter date for her achievement days. It was so much fun! We had a luau and the girls did a hula dance. Then they taught the moms which was also really fun. Matt got some time with Kass and Logan which was also really good for them.

Butterfly kisses

May the wings of the butterfly kiss the sun
And find your shoulder to light on,
To bring you luck, happiness and riches
Today, tomorrow and beyond.
~Irish Blessing

The lilac bushes have had lots of friendly visitors. Mikelle, Kass & I had fun watching all the butterflies. Mikelle decided that she really wanted to catch one. She built a butterfly trap and put watermelon and sugar inside it. I can't believe she actually caught one that way. She is so creative and inventive!

Pet Fun!

So, for the first time ever we got to see Daisy be aggressive. She got in a fight with a marmot. The little... well not so little, guy gave up a good fight! Unfortunately the girls and I got to see it first hand. Mikelle was crying hysterically and Kassidee was yelling at Daisy. She brought it around to the side yard and left it in the grass for us. Thanks Daisy! He eventually moved into the bushes. I don't know if it's still there or made it out to die somewhere else. We are watching though because we definitely don't need a rotting carcass in the yard. Yuck! We had a long talk about Daisy not being mean and that sometimes animals do things like that. They were hating Daisy all day but by the evening they were loving her again. It's so out of character for her to be aggressive at all. I think that she got that way because the marmot was being so aggressive and defensive of it's territory. Usually Daisy is as sweet a dog as you can find. She was good buddies with Jazzy and is even usually nice to our birds. What a dramatic day!!!! Hopefully we never have to do that again. Poor Mikelle was heart-broken and cried most of the day!

First Real Bath

Logan had his first "real" bath. Mikelle and Kassidee wanted to take a bath with him so we filled up the whole tub and stuck his little bath in there with them. He is such a calm and happy baby. He doesn't really like being naked but he didn't really fuss either. We took lots of pictures and he was good the whole time. I had to take a picture of his feet. I love little baby feet!

I thought that I'd share some pictures of what's been going on at our house lately. I took some pics of Logan on his actual due date (yesterday the 17th). It's amazing how much he's changed in just a short time. He's almost 3 weeks old. His bruises are mostly gone and his skin color is changing. Mikelle has been really worried that I'm getting him sunburned. I've tried explaining that babies just have red skin. I think that he looks a lot like Matt. Kass thinks that he looks like Matt and she kind of does too. The girls adore Logan. Mikelle says he's her baby which infuriates Kassidee who says that he's everybody's baby.

Mikelle and Kassidee are really loving to cook. We made french toast today. Yummy! Now if I can just teach them that cleaning up is part of cooking. I'm glad that they are so independent (most of the time) and love to be busy. As long as they're not busy getting into trouble. You can probably tell from their crazy hair pictures that trouble seems to find them easily. At least they are creative. Lately I have been pondering about "inspiration." I definitely wonder what inspired my girls to color all over themselves. I have a project right now that I'm working on and just can't seem to get inspired.

What inspires you?
What have you done to be inspiring?
Do you love yourself and love what you do?
What have you observed around you that has inspired you?

There are so many things that have inspired me at some point. I have even been inspired by someone at a drive-thru that just loved themselves and their job. I love that Matt works so hard for me so that I can stay home with my children. My children frustrate me and inspire me daily. I hope that Matt will find something he truly loves to do or at least be content in what he does and where he's at. I'm always inspired by the beauty in nature and the love of my Heavenly Father. The sacrifice and love of my savior. When I think about the Atonement I always ponder on the love Jesus had for all of us. What have I done today to show love to all of those around me? Isn't that what He would want me to do? I think that it's so easy for us to judge others based on our assumptions that we fail to be kind to everyone around us. I think that we need to remember that everyone is fighting some kind of personal battle. I think that we get so caught up in things (not necessarily bad things, most are very good things, just not "essential" things) that take away our time that we should be spending doing better things. How often do really stop and listen to our heart? I've decided that I need to make a list of things and then schedule a time that I need to work on them. I'm an extremely bad procrastinator so we'll see if I even get to the "list" making part but it's worth a shot. There's a Japanese proverb that says something like: Fall seven times, stand up eight. I know that I will never find the time to do the inspiring and essential things in life if I do not make time for them. Sorry for the long post. I really had no intentions of writing all that but it was on my mind..... maybe it was inspiration.

Logan Matthew Bergeson

Arrived: May 29th, 2008
Time: 3:30 p.m.
Weight: 6 lbs 8oz

Height: 18 1/2 inches long
We're so excited that our sweet little baby is here. He is so sweet and snuggly. The first couple of days he was really bruised and purple from coming posterior and so quickly. His poor little lip was fat and his eyes were so swelled. He's looking much better now even though he is still pretty bruised up. Mikelle says he's her baby. Kass is a little scared of him still but I think that she'll warm up to him quickly. They got to stay the weekend at grandma's and had a lot of fun. Kassidee even got to have a sleepover at the neighbors house with her best little buddy Cameron. Mikelle chickened out. The next morning Kass knocked on the door to see if Mikelle could play. They've been gone so much I think that they have forgotten where they actually live. Mia also loves Logan. She giggles when she sees him and tries to grab him. Too cute! It's hard to say who he really looks like yet but I think he kinda looks a little like his daddy with my chin.
